Overview

Session Telecoms (Pty) Ltd is committed to transparency, accountability, and compliance with applicable South African legislation, including:​

  • The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2 of 2000 (PAIA)

  • The Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA)

  • Applicable telecommunications legislation and regulatory requirements

 

This page explains how you can request access to records held by Session Telecoms.

What is PAIA?

PAIA gives effect to your constitutional right to access information held by private bodies when that information is required for the exercise or protection of your rights.

Session Telecoms will process all valid requests in accordance with PAIA, subject to certain limitations required by law.

How to Request Access to Information

To request access to records:

  • Complete the official PAIA Request Form (Form 2)

  • Provide sufficient details to identify the record

  • Indicate the right you wish to exercise or protect

  • Submit the form with proof of identity

Request Process
  • Requests are evaluated by the Information Officer

  • A response will be provided within 30 days

  • This period may be extended where permitted by law

  • You will be notified if any fees apply

Fees

Certain requests may require:

  • A request fee

  • Reproduction or search fees

  • A deposit where applicable

You will always be notified before any fees are charged.

 

Access Restrictions

Access to records may be refused where disclosure would:

  • Infringe on personal privacy

  • Compromise confidential or commercial information

  • Expose trade secrets or intellectual property

  • Jeopardise security or infrastructure

  • Breach telecommunications laws or regulatory obligations

 

Telecommunications Regulatory Compliance

As a telecommunications service provider, Session Telecoms is subject to additional legal obligations. Certain records cannot be disclosed in terms of:

  • The Electronic Communications Act

  • The Regulation of Interception of Communications Act (RICA)

  • The Cybercrimes Act

  • ICASA licence conditions and regulatory requirements

 

This includes restrictions on:​

  • Network infrastructure and configuration data

  • Traffic and communication records

  • Lawful interception capabilities

 

Protection of Personal Information

Session Telecoms processes personal information in accordance with POPIA. We collect and use personal information for:

  • Providing services

  • Managing customer and supplier relationships

  • Legal and regulatory compliance

  • Security and fraud prevention

We implement appropriate safeguards to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

 

Remedies

If your request is refused, you may:

  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

  • Approach a court for appropriate relief
